Wayne Barker

Wayne Barker recently appeared in  A Confederacy of Dunces at the Huntington. He received a Tony Award nomination and a Drama Desk Award for Peter and the Starcatcher, his second score for Broadway. His Broadway debut, as both composer and performer, was Dame Edna’s Back with a Vengeance. He co-wrote lyrics with Barry Humphries including Edna’s closing of the 2006 Commonwealth Games and her solo for the 75th Royal Command Variety Performance. Mr. Barker performed with Dame Edna from 2000–2006, touring the USA and Canada. He played five years with Chicago City Limits, the great New York City improvisational company. In 2014, he made his acting debut in the two character musical play Souvenir with Karen Murphy at Portland Stage. Most recently, he scored and conducted Sisters’ Follies for Basil Twist. His other theatre scores include The Great Gatsby and Twelfth Night (both for David Esbjornson), The Primrose Path (Guthrie Theater, dir. Roger Rees),The Three Musketeers (Seattle Repertory Theatre), and Beth Henley’s Laugh this spring in Washington, DC. Mr. Barker’s music is heard throughout “A Little Curious” on HBO Family.
