Education
One of the most extensive and admired programs in the country, the Huntington’s Education Department serves more than 10,000 students, teachers, and community organizations each year with student matinees, state-wide Poetry Out Loud and the August Wilson Monologue Competition.
Collaborators
Our collaborators include Boston Public Schools, Codman Academy Charter Public School, Children’s Services of Roxbury, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and many community organizations.
Awards
The Huntington Theatre Company has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the President’s Council on the Arts and Humanities, Massachusetts House of Representatives and Senate, and City of Boston’s City Council. In 2009, Codman Academy was awarded the Commonwealth Award for our collaboration.
Our Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the Huntington Theatre Company’s Department of Education and Community Programs is to foster and support a direct and passionate engagement for youth, educators, artists, and the broader community in all aspects of the theatre experience.
