Be it dry, subtle, ironic, or outright bizarre, there will be no shortage of humor in this festival of shorts. The nine plays within the festival derive from nine different playwrights ranging in location from Canada, to New York City, to right here in Boston. The plays take on varied plots and characters such as an office love affair; two tennis partners who realize they shared the same teenage love; roommates whose mundane existence proves entertaining; a unique retelling of a prince and princess story; a man who is visited by an ex-girlfriend who takes the form of the grim-reaper; an art gallery that evokes unusual passion; and not to mention a husband who comes home from a bad day at work dragging a dead clown. Although each play differs dramatically in storyline, each one encompasses a running theme of “almost.” The theme, given as the one stipulation all plays must encompass in order for submission to the festival, is in accordance with this year’s season entitled, A Year in the Life of Almost.
Approximate Running Time: 2 hours, including one intermission
