WEEK 1 - July 17th

The Boston Festival Orchestra presents Genesis, the first concert of Season One.

Be there for the rebirth of Boston’s music scene with Genesis, the opening concert of the first season of the Boston Festival Orchestra. From Mozart to Ginastera, this concert takes you across the globe and through time, in celebration of the return to live performing arts!

W.A Mozart, Symphony No. 29 in A Major
Carlos Simon, Warmth From Other Suns
Alberto Ginastera, Variaciones Concertantes

WEEK 2 - July 24th

The Boston Festival Orchestra presents Elemental, the second concert of Season One.

The BFO showcases its musicians in Elemental, a bold exploration of the forces of nature. Sixteen wind players, representing breath and air, perform an unusual feat: an unconducted rendition of the Sonatina in F Major for Winds, ‘From an Invalid’s Workshop’ by Richard Strauss. The second half gets heated with the full power of the BFO strings performing Piazzolla’s seductive The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, an Argentinian twist on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons that we all know and love.

Richard Strauss, Sonatina in F Major for Winds, ‘From an Invalid’s Workshop
Astor Piazzolla, Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas - Alyssa Wang, violin

WEEK 3 - July 31st

The Boston Festival Orchestra presents Inheritance, the third and final concert of Season One.

The finale concert of the BFO’s first summer season considers the past as it influences the present. It opens with two iconic staples of the classical repertoire by Mozart and Beethoven, and concludes with two compositions by Dobrinka Tabakova and Sergei Prokofiev which acknowledge, in their own ways, the musical traditions that came before them. End your summer with a bang and celebrate the conclusion of Season One!

Ludwig van Beethoven, Overture to the Creatures of Prometheus
W.A. Mozart, Concerto for Clarinet - Nicholas Brown, clarinet
Dobrinka Tabakova, Fantasy Homage to Schubert
Sergei Prokofiev, Symphony No. 1, ‘Classical
