About

With exciting physical theatre and a live feminist punk band, Liars & Believers transforms a Greek tragedy into a contemporary rage against the man. One of the most innovative theatre companies of the region grapples with one of the major issues of our day – the disempowerment, abuse, and oppression of women. Not only in the story, but in the process, Liars & Believers gives voice to today’s women. With RED ELEKTRA, Liars & Believers is partnering with one of the leading local playwrights, Cassie M. Seinuk, a first generation Cuban-American, and local punk musician Saraswathi Jones, a first generation Indian-American. Along with an all-female band, an almost all-female cast and design team, this production delves deeply into women’s experiences today. This world premier performance is being produced as a part of the Push Project Residency at Boston Center for the Arts.
