Inspired by writer/director Preston Sturges’ masterpiece Sullivan’s Travels, Beau Jest asks, "is screwball comedy a force for positive change or merely an escapist fantasy?" Mistaken identities, rapid-fire dialogue, sight gags, chases and improbable plot points all add up to a loving theatrical send-up of the positive energy screwball comedies employ to confront adverse times. Previous Beau Jest shows include Krazy Kat and Samurai 7.0. Of their original show Apt 4-D exploring the film noir genre, The Boston Globe said, “The show moves along crisply and in good humor, propelled by a versatile and firmly committed cast under Robin's able direction".
Approximate Run Time: Screwball plays in 70 minutes with no intermission.
