“For Appolon, who teaches at Boston Ballet School and has toured with world-renowned companies, the taboos of his childhood now define his artistic mission: preserving Haiti’s cultural legacy through dance, and celebrating the connection between Haitian dance and the rites of Vodou ceremonies.” Francie Latour, The Boston Globe

Exploring themes of injustice, inequality and homophobia in the context of contemporary Haiti, ANGAJE is a series of interconnected dances created by Appolon for his company of six dancers. In Haitian Creole, “Angaje” means “committed” or “engaged.” A talk back with Appolon and company artists will take place after each performance.
