About

In the Next Room, or the vibrator play explores a not-too-distant moment in American history when primitive vibrators were used to treat the mysterious affliction known as "female hysteria." Sarah Ruhl's sensitive and intelligent comedy examines the intersections between love, sexuality, and intimacy, the beauty and limitations of the human body, and what it really means to connect with another person.
