A folk-punk epic poem about nine sailors and their inevitable doom.
Adapted from the log of the Demeter in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, A Sailor’s Grave is a third-person musical narrative of creeping dread, desperation, and inevitable doom. Led by songwriter/composer Nick Paraggio, A Sailor’s Grave is performed by Captain Vampire (Boston’s most theatrically-inclined folk punk band) in a new, expanded formation, melding influences from traditional folk and contemporary folk punk into a new kind of musical storytelling. Nine sailors leave from Bulgaria carrying a cargo they could never have expected. Will they reach their destination? And, most importantly: what is waiting inside the ship?
