On occasion, ticket availability for select performances is limited due to high demand, but seats are still released every day for sale. When this happens for The Huntington, patrons may contact Ticketing Services to join our Advanced Wait List and be upgraded to a seat automatically when it becomes available.

How It Works:

Contact Ticketing Services at 617 933 8600 and reserve a spot on the Advanced Wait List with a deposit per ticket (plus the standard per-ticket handling fee).

If a seat becomes available before your selected performance, you will automatically be upgraded and your credit card will be charged the difference in price. We will call you to tell you that you have been upgraded.

If you are not upgraded to a seat before your selected performance but you have placed your name on the Advanced Wait List, please arrive at the theatre no later than 45 minutes before curtain and check in at ticketing services.

Your deposit is non-refundable unless you arrive at the theatre on the night of your chosen performance and we are unable to seat you.

The lobbies of the The Huntington Theatre and the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA open at least 30 minutes prior to each performance. The lobby of the BCA Plaza Theatres opens 30 minutes prior to each performance.

Children under the age of five are not permitted in the theatre unless special arrangements have been made for a specific production. Please check with Ticketing Services staff for more information. Everyone entering the theatre must have a ticket.

The use of all cameras and all recording devices in the theatre is prohibited for the safety of the actors.

• The Huntington Theatre: currently does not offer coat check services.
• Calderwood Pavilion/BCA: located in the orchestra lobby.
• BCA Plaza Theatres: none available

Coat check is open at the discretion of the management.

There is no dress code. Audience members attend our performances in everything from jeans to formal attire.

Please remember to switch off all watches, pagers, and cell phones during the performance

The safety of our patrons, casts, and staff is very important to us. While we rarely cancel a performance due to inclement weather, please contact Ticketing Services if you have concerns about your ability to attend.

If we make the decision to cancel a performance, we will attempt to contact all ticket holders in advance of the announced start time.

We make every effort to begin our performances on time. In consideration of our actors and other audience members‚ latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the management. Latecomers may not be seated in their assigned seats.

Performance times vary from show to show. Visit the Shows and Events page and select the show you are attending for run time information or call Ticketing Services at 617 933 8600.

Please check your tickets, the website, or staff when purchasing your tickets to confirm the location of your performance. Productions purchased through BTS may take place at the Huntington Theatre on the Avenue of the Arts (264 Huntington Avenue), the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA in the South End (527 Tremont Street), or the BCA Plaza Theatres (539 Tremont Street).

Objects found in the theatre may be given to an usher or brought to coat check.

Tickets purchased with certain discounts are held at the Ticketing Services for discount verification.

If you did not use a discount, please allow 7 to 10 days after you purchase for your tickets to arrive in the mail.

If you ordered your tickets within one week of performance, they will be held at the Ticketing Services.

Tickets can be picked up at any time between the time of purchase and the performance at either of our Ticketing Services locations (Avenue of the Arts / Huntington Theatre, 264 Huntington Ave.; South End / Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA, 527 Tremont Street).

Snacks, wine, beer, soft drinks, and coffee are available in the lobbies of the Huntington Theatre and Calderwood Pavilion/BCA during pre-show and at intermission. All concessions are permitted inside those theatres.

Concessions in the BCA Plaza Theatres lobby are sold at the discretion of the presenting or producing company. Only covered beverages and water are allowed inside the BCA Plaza Theatre and BCA Black Box.

There is a per-ticket convenience fee for all orders placed by phone or online. This fee is dependant on the price of the ticket, as follows:

• For tickets $0.00-$20.00: $2.25 per ticket Convenience Fee
• For tickets $20.01-$40.00: $5.50 per ticket Convenience Fee
• For tickets $40.01 and greater: $8.75 per ticket Convenience Fee

For performances with reserved seating, tickets can be reprinted and held at the Ticketing Services. A photo ID is required for pick-up. We apologize but we are unable to reprint tickets for general admission events.

We hate to see empty seats when many of our performances sell out. Please consider donating any tickets you can’t use to the theatre.

Single ticket buyers may exchange their tickets for a small fee. Subscribers for some BTS companies, including The Huntington and SpeakEasy Stage Company, allow free exchanges as a benefit to their subscribers. Please call the box office at 617-266-0800 if you need to make such an exchange.

Whether backstage‚ in Front of House‚ or working at a special event‚ Huntington volunteers have the unique opportunity to assist the theatre and at the same time become a part of the Huntington family.

Ushers – Help support the Huntington and Boston Theatre Scene!

Volunteer ushers are a vital part of the theatre’s Front of House operations. More than 1,280 volunteers are needed for more than 160 performances each season!

Volunteer ushers should check in with the House Manager and Head Usher upon arrival. Arrival times may vary, depending upon the venue. Volunteer ushers are expected to hand out programs, help seat patrons before the show starts, and answer basic questions which patrons have about the theatre. In exchange, ushers can see the performance free of charge and get an inside look at the workings of a professional theatre company.
