Haciendo Punto en Otro Son: La ruta de los 50

Calderwood Pavilion, 527 Tremont Street

April 25 2025

Haciendo Punto en Otro Son is synonymous with Puerto Rican identity. Founded in 1975, this musical group is considered one of the most important bands of the Puerto Rican “Nueva Canción” movement. This genre combines elements of folk music with socially committed lyrics and messages of justice, solidarity, and cultural pride. Initially composed by renowned voices of the Puerto Rican scene – Silverio Pérez, Josy Latorre, Nano Cabrera, Tony Croatto (RIP), and Irving García (RIP), their songs have been a tool to preserve and promote Puerto Rican cultural identity while advocating for social causes. About to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the group is opening a new concert route to celebrate its influence on Puerto Rican culture and on the new generations who enjoy their inspiring melodies as much as they did yesterday.
